01 / Record the work and its dependencies

Hypermega examines how AI-linked cultural works are documented, exhibited, acquired and preserved. The archive retains a protocol draft under this date. The present edition turns its stated provenance, display and conservation questions into a working record structure. It is a reconstructed protocol, not evidence of an acquisition, artist agreement or completed conservation test.

The object record begins with a stable identifier and the exact version being described. It distinguishes source material, production process and retained output. Where a model, service or software component contributes to the work, the record identifies the dependency and the information actually available about its version. Unknown details remain marked as unknown.

02 / Production and provenance

The production record identifies the operator's decisions, the sequence of accepted steps and the files retained at each boundary. A final output alone cannot explain which parts of the process can be repeated. The record therefore separates repeatable instructions from transient service behaviour and from choices that were not logged.

Permissions are recorded for their stated scope. Permission to display an output does not automatically establish permission to reuse source material, train a model or transfer a production process. A rights question remains open until supporting evidence addresses the relevant use, territory and duration. A public provenance statement does not substitute for the underlying permission record.

03 / Display and preservation

The display record identifies the required equipment, software, environment and accepted configuration. A proposed display protocol is distinguished from a tested installation. If a replacement component is considered, the file states which observable qualities must remain unchanged and who is responsible for accepting the substitution.

Preservation records include retained files, version references, integrity checks and the conditions required to access them. A successful file copy is not sufficient evidence that the work can be reconstructed. The preservation question is whether the retained record permits an authorised future operator to understand the object, its dependencies and its limits.

04 / Review boundary

The next review should identify missing provenance fields, unresolved rights questions and untested display conditions. Proposed gallery, facility and research cohorts remain programme parameters. They are not counted as signed participation or delivered capacity in this protocol.
